Default Applying Decals?

I have some HD decals for my tank and I'm confused now as to what to do. I was under the impression that they would have to be clearcoated over top of, until I talked to the guy who runs a body shop at a local car dealership. He said to just stick them on and leave it. Also, it would be about $800 to clearcoat and sand. My HD dealer recommended him and he is supposed to be very good, but I'm not really sure how it would look and hold up just being stuck on there. Has anyone done this before?

$800 to clear coat is absurd. If you take the tank off and bring it in (somewhere else), I think you should be able to get by for under $200. Go shop around and see if you can find a better deal.

$800????? like Gart said, pull the tank and take it somewhere, clear coat less than $200 with all the work / materials- and yes, the decals are cleared over, not just stuck on and leftlike that

What kind of decal? Vinyl copy, or regular HD decal.

I don't have them infront of me right now, but they are decals ordered from the HD dealer. It was a police bike, so there was nothing on the tank.
