There will always be bike snobbery with some riders. Screw 'em all. Personally I don't look down on any bikes. All bikers are kindred to me. Heck I've waved to guys on scooters.
I think everybody is confused about the Sportster, the Sportster is a sports bike and is an excellent handling bike, it leaves the crotch rockets behind on the curvy roads like the Dragons Tail, it is not a bike for beginners or for women, it is for the experienced rider. It is top heavy and and not easy to handle. It is the hardest bike to ride that Harley makes. I know, my wife learned to ride on a sporty and it was hard for her until she got on the Heritage, and after riding the sporty for a year the softtail is like a walk in the park to her, so everybody who disses the sporty are just jealous of its great handling in the curves. Just my .02 cents
Ah-hem, Beg to differ!
I am a "chick" and I absolutely love me Sporty. I find it very easy to handle, yes a little top heavy, but even for me at 5'2" is more thanmanageable. I never have had an issue with it. Yes, this is what I learned on, and now the 1200 upgrade is being done. I can't wait to get her back.
Well, I didn't feel my sportster was a girlie bike until my wife stuck saddlebags with little pink roses and pink lacing on it along with a mud flap with little pink roses and pink tassles on the hand grips. Now I'm not so certain.
