Yep, I agree. Speeds between 55 and 60 are the problem for me. 5th sounds a bit high and 6th lugs. When I ride with my brother and he is leading, I tell him to either go 50 or 60 LOL!
I love riding with my buddy who only has a 5 speed...when we get out on the road and I hear him go to 5th...I wait a few seconds then go to 6th...never fails to draw a finger from him....LOL
Ride with faster friends :-) I am constantly changing myself even when riding by myself but it doesn't really bother me. The cams did make it a better experience!
6th gear below 65 lugs too much and rattles (detonation, even with 90 octane). I still have pretty good acceleration in 6th as long as it is above 65. Love it for the gas mileage though.

Exactly! On the good ole amish country roads it's either 45, 55, or 65 and I never feel like I'm where I should be at with my RPMs riding with these guys.

Well, since 5th on 5 speeds and 6th on 6 speeds are both 1:1 final ratio, there's no overdrive to speak of. I don't shift into 5th on Reaper until I'm at least doing 65 to 70 mph.
I think the problem is the people you're riding with can't maintain their speed. Really has nothing to do with 5 or 6 speeds.
