+1 on the Crystal River Area, then work your east north of Ocala, Miconopi is a nice quiettown for a lunch stop just south of Gainsville...
I agree, Micanopy, Macintosh, Orange Lake area and also that same area west of I-75 has some great riding. If you do happen to be in Micanopy for lunch and like BBQ, go to Pearl's. It is right on 441 in a gas station. Some of the best BBQ in Fl. The Ocala National Forest has some nice riding also..
Another beautiful ride is 13 north of Palatka along the St. Johns river. Stop at Corky Bells in Palatka for lunch, right on the river also, then slip over and head back south down A1A (my personal favorite ride). Unbelievable ride. The Blue Crab Festival is in Palatka this weekend. If you don't have any plans and like seafood it is well worth checking out.
Your running alot of the same roads that I do, We need hook up one of these times.. Sounds like a Central Fla run may be in the near future....
I'm close to you. I live in Leesburg. If you go to Crystal River via 44, stop by a place I just discovered a couple of weeks ago. In Inverness, take 41 south towards Floral City. About 6 miles south, turn left at the Circle K. Go about 3 miles to the Sleepy Hollow. A great biker hangout on a river with great food and entertainment on the weekend.
As others have said, you can spend your entire vacation around Crystal River with great hangouts and reasonable motel rates.

I know what you mean about Lightseys Dog. Sometimes my wife and I have friday night supper there. About 30 minutes from my house. I love the oysters and shrimp.

It is the perfect Saturday lunch distance from my house, around 200 miles. That way I get a couple hundred miles after eating to ride it off! I haven't been down there in awhile, I need to get headed there soon.

Next time plan ride down pm me and I will get some more forum members in the area to meet up and we can have lunch together. My son goes to school in Gainesville and if timed right you can have another bike make the trip with you. He just called me and made a 410 mile ride today.
