Default Corbin. sorry long

Just a little Daytona Corbin story, this is not a bashing just a true story.

I purchased a Corbin classic solo seat for my 98 R/K just under a year ago. Not having money falling out of my butt. I could not afford the pillion at the time it would have to wait until next year.
Well here it is next year and the wife and I trip on down to Daytona Corbin (about an 80 Mi. ride 1 way) to look at a new seat for her 07 low rider and to pick up my 50’s style pillion.
Well due to the Mertal Beach bike week going on, a lot of their inventory was there so to find something for her Low rider was limited.
Oh well they do have the pillion I want. The salesman comes out with the new pillion and before he un-wraps it he tells me it will not match my outdated seat.
Outdated I ask my seat is only a year old.
Well after a few phone calls and some serial number research I find out the seat is over 4 years old. It was discontinued in 2004. Can you spell PISSED! An abused.
I ask for a new seat. Oh no they will send mine off and have it recovered. Not acceptable in my eyes. I want the new seat I paid full price for. Finally the salesman agrees to replace my seat with a new one. Oh Boy!
Of course due to the Mertal beach show there is not one in stock. I will have to return when it comes in. (80 mile trip one way) I ask if I can get the Pillion at a discounted price for my troubles. The answer is NO. “We are giving you a new seat and that’s all”.
I have sent 2 e-mails to Hollister the home office about this over two weeks ago. I am still waiting for a reply.
Am I asking for too much? I think the way the economy is business would be falling over trying to keep a sale and keep good customer service. Maybe I am wrong?
If I had never tried to buy the pillion I would have never found out the age of my seat. But I did (BUSTED).
My question still is. Am I asking for too much? What would you do?

I think they are making it up to you by giving you a new seat. Many businesses would not have done that.

If they are letting you use the older seat while they wait for the new one to come in, then i think it's fair.

you were going to pay for the pillion before you found this out, so what's the difference other than you are getting a brand new seat?

be happy! new seat!!

I'd say a new seat is pretty darn fair.

Also, did you buy the first seat direct from Corbin ?

ya dont " make it up" by doin righting a wrong when you've been ripped. you make it right by going above and beyond. i'm in retail.thats unacceptable service IMO.

ANDI might add: he had ta really fight ta get em ta do the "right thang". I'm surrounded by poor service automotive shops. thats why people drive past them ta get ta me.

I think you scored with the new seat, I'm surprised they did that much. Be happy with the new seat and ride away. JMHO

Well this is the first time I've heard of a year being applied to a seat other than what year HD they will fit. It's not like they sold you a used seat, I'm sure the salesman didn't know anymore about it being discontinued than you did. You've gotten a year out of the seat and you're getting a new one to replace it. I wouldn't have to big of a beef over this myself.

I think they went beyond fair. Why should they replace a used seat.

Just wondering was the seat bought direct from Corbin or through a distributor.
