hey guys. i bought a 2008 fatboy not even 3 monthes old and she is broke. i have 2,075 miles on her i run 92 or 93 octang fuel, on my way home from work i noticed a wicked noise coming from the motor within minutes the engine light came on and bike stalled. also the pipe coming from the front cylinder is normal no color. the pipe coming from the rear cylinder is blue from the top all the way to the muffler. i haerd that the fatboys are running lean any ideas to this problem by the way i have a 2 year warrenty.

Karma?

I'd take it in since it's under warranty. You wouldn't want to mess with it then get told they won't cover it under warranty due to you messing with it. It sucks, but it's probably your best bet. I'd guess it was overheating, due to the blueing of the rear cylinder. But don't quote me. If I'm wrong someone will pipe up. Good Luck

It's a bit unusual for heavy bluing to go all the way back to the muffler. It usually tapers off just past the bend near the oil tank. Warranty time anyway.

karma well i try to be nice to other people i really do. about the bluing something is not right like i said the pipe from the front cylinder no color but from the rear cylinder it is blue right from the cylinder to the muffler i know right there something is not good. i live in titusville fla and i called the harley owners group gave them my local and a local wrecker service showe in 45 minutes and took her to pineda harley in melbourne fla.any ideas to what went wrong shifting was fine when i stoped at a light i noticed a different ping noise from the right side of the engine light turned green started off got to 2nd gear and bike started to bogg down then the picture of the engine came on and bike died. forgot to mention bike is all stock and the bluing stops by the oil tank on other bikes that is true mine goes all the way to the muffler.

If we tell you what is wrong with it, are you going to fix it instead of having Harley warranty it? After they check it out, let us know what they say. Might want to check out nightrider.com and order yourself a set of IED's to cool the beast down a little.

RE: 2008 fatboy broke.
Install the IED from nightrider. You will be amazed at the difference. Sitting at a stop light would heat my bike up so much that I wanted to shut it off until the light turned green. Installed the XiED from nightrider and now can sit at an idle for as long as I want or need with no, repeat no excessive heat. I actually believe this bike is now running cooler than my 99 Heritage did.
