Anyone out their seen Garmin has updated their north America map in May. Anyone done the download or DVD. Garmin is selling it for 69.XX. Anyone buy it for less somewhere else...
i am pretty sure I register mine and when I put in the serial number the menu came up reflecting a 69.XX purchase option. Let me know what you find out please...
Updated mine yesterday, I had lost my product code and had to call Garmin. Their customer support was awesome helped me straight away and a couple of hours later the upgrade was done. I am also traveling the world this summer on business and found that I could simply add maps on an SD card and plug them right in.
I really am enjoying my Zumo 550, now I all need are the custom caps for it.
I have two Garmin GPS units. Steetpilot 2720 and Zumo 550. Garmin sent me an email informing me of the 2009 update, called Garmin asking if I purchased one update for $70 and change, if I could also update my second unit. Kimberly in customer support was very nice, but said that due to a new policy by their mapping provider, I would have to purchase an update for each unit. That didn't sound right to me, I guess I figured if I had purchased two Garmin units I should be able to upgrade both for one price. That was their policy last year, apparently. Anyway, I informed Kimberly that I wouldn't be paying $140 plus dollars to upgrade both units and out of protest (stubbornness) I wouldn't be upgrading either of my units, thank you very much.
She then offered to speak with her supervisor and after a couple of minutes came back and said she would be very glad to send me a free upgrade CD for one of my units and that I could visit their web site to purchase the upgrade for the other. She said she didn't usually make this offer, but since I was such a nice fellow, she would make an exception. I downloaded the new map and it should, I hope, update a lot of the missing roads around Greensboro. I found a new Golden Coral resturant that was just opened a couple of weeks ago on the resturant menu, surprised they were that up to date.
