Default Road Glide windshield inserts

08 Road glide

Hey all...when installing my clearview windshield on my 08 ROAD GLIDE, I dropped one of those damn rubber inserts down inside the fairing. Man I was pissed. That is such a bad design...I had another to replace it. But is it worth trying to retreive the lost one???I think I'm going to leave it in there....I don't think it will hurt anything...thoughts??? thanks

just leave it in there till the next time you pull the outer fairing off and retreive it then. I keep spares on hand just cause of this.

and yes, I agree, its a pi$$ poor half a$$ed design that HD has had long enough to fix if they cared to.

I have done that before as well. If you loosen the signal lamps on the side it will give enough room for it to fall through to get it back out without having to take the fairing off. Both times that I did it I didn't have any extra available. I do now, but I still don't like having extra crap rolling around inside the fairing.

Did exactly the same thing the other day when swapping windshields and it turned an easy 10 minute job into a painintheass 2 hours trying to get the damm 'wellnut' back. I never did find it and have no clue where it ended up. No spare of course, so I had to fiddle around trying to get something to work till I'm able to get a replacement from the dealer. Crappy design fer sure!
