Yes, but only on club runs with 6 or more in a pack. And you need to know what the hell you are doing, it can be dangerous if not done right. I have never had any problems blocking or sending blockers ahead to place one if I needed to.
Nope that would be illegal here - just the cops get to do that for VIP motorcades etc. We do a 'drop off' system for roundabouts where the guy behind the leader drops off at a roundabout to signpost the exit and then when everyone has gone through you join in on the back of the group. Not such a problem in the U.S. I guess. As yes we do loose guys on group rides and we fine them for being dorks
It depends. If it is just a small group (2-5)of us out for a weekend ride then no. If it is a large group on the way to an event or on a specific run then yeah. Strictly speaking it is illegal here but a large number of the guys I ride with are police officers or retired officers. As someone else pointed out, it is dangerous so you do need to know what you are doing.
This has been a topic of hot debate with PGR Honor Missions. There are those among our ranks who feel it's OK to block an intersection for a funeral. Most drivers would agree, but the law is not on your side if you do it. We have a LEO PGR member who coordinates missions around DFW with LEAs in the area. What they have consistently told us is that if they break an intersection, one of our designated road guards can relieve them as they leap frog to and from intersections and freeway entrances. Honestly, I question this too and wonder if the law would be on my side in case of an accident. There are plenty of PGR road guard volunteers with lots of flashing lights on their bikes. I don't get in that mix.

Yes, we use blocking... I am a road guard. If we're on a club run, we block when needed. You can rage all you want but I'll still be between you and my Brothers. Anyway, I've never seen anyone "rage" on a club trying to get through an intersection...
