my bike
 \\;
went for a consult at the hospital yesterday (cosmetic dentistry)
 \\;
parked the bike, came back an hour later
Ignition cover flipped open &\\; the starter was engaged on my bike (thats not how I left it)
 \\;
Middle of the day at a busy hospital - go figure
 \\;
Questions:
1) Does this happen often? (first time for me)
2) Are alarms helpful? my bikes doesn't have one currently
3) suggestions?
 \\;
I did have my ignition and forks locked
I was even parked next to another bike (the same bike was still there when I returned from my appointment)
 \\;

hmmm, someone attempted to steal your bike it seems. you were parked next to another but your could have been closer to shrubs or on the hidden side..I would say Violated.
My friend that works at the VA hosp in Balto had his tags stolen off his bike in the U/G parking ..even with cameras on it, security couldn't/wouldn't identify tha d*ckhead who did it, ..........................now he uses red locktite and motion sensor with pager, costs money to keep the scumbags at bay
parked the bike, came back an hour later Ignition cover flipped open &\\;\\\\\\; the starter was engaged on my bike (thats not how I left it)

Huh? \\; If the ignition and the fork were locked, how is it the starter was engaged?
 \\;
I don't understand....[]
 \\;
Glad there was no damage.....
I had my bike parked at work and watched from a window as a coworker was checking it out. \\; He flipped open the ignition cover, turned \\;the throttle, and squeezed the brake and clutch levers. \\; I know he was just curious and didn't mean any harm but it still iritated me. \\; People just dont understand bike etiquett.
If the starter was engaged and the bike was in gear (you do park it in gear right) why didn't it move itself away. \\; Never seen the starter engaged on a locked bike.
