Wife and I are taking off for six days over the first weekend in October. Planning on flying to a location and renting a bike. We want to stay in one location and take day trips for scenic rides. Looking for locations that meet these requirements and offer a good chance of decent weather.
It would be great to hear ideas for locales. Either places you've visited or live.
I'll throw a plug in for my neck of the woods....panhandle of Florida.
By October most of the tourists are gone so the roads aren't so full and hotel rates have dropped, the weather has cooled off a bit, there are some great beach rides such as down 30-A, Navarre, Apalachicola, Port St. Joe / Cape San Blas, etc. \\; Also, around the Big Bend there are lots of old style two lane blacktops through pine forests.
if it was me, i'd head to the rockies but in october, the higher elevations have snow. \\; maybe az or nm.
 \\;
my buddy rented a heritage in hawaii and rode the big island for a few days. \\; said he experienced 7 states in 3 days!
 \\;
heck, anywhere is good as long as youre riding!
 \\; Fly to Miami, FL////////
pick up a bike in Ft Lauderdale...ride to West Palm Beach, Key West, Orlando.
 \\; Or fly to Orlando.....ride to Cocoa Beach.....Daytona Beach.....St Augustine.
 \\; Fly to Daytona Beach and \\;almost anywhere is within reach in Florida
(besides....you want to see Rossmeyers "destination Daytona"!!!!! \\; \\; bring an empty
credit card)
 \\; Besides........Daytona Biketoberfest is in that time frame......hurricane season ends too!!!!
