That's the beauty of the HD gear versus stuff that was not designed for motorcycles. The HD stuff has protective areas on their pants so they don't melt on the pipes.

Does anyone know if there is any concern with melting on the hot exhaust with any of the HD rain gear?  \\;\\\\\\;
Hey, am I the only one using the Nelson-Riggs suit. \\; Had it for 7 years so far. \\; Check the review link above. \\; Good stuff.

Mine were getting damp around the shins this weekend so I'm thinking of hitting the lower parts of the legs with spray on waterproofing for tents. \\; Guessing it's from slipping my boot through the pant leg a thousand times.
I have the Mens Overpass rain jacket and pants. (Not the II, but I don't beleive there is much difference.) It is heavy duty. It keeps the rain out with no problem. I am not fond of the pants. They don't "slip" on well and are bulky. I get alot of use out of the jacket. If I wear a light fleece jacket underneath it, it's good down to freezing. That being said, I bought Frog Toggs for the warm weather. I heat taped a piece of ironing board cover to the inside pants leg so they don't melt against the exhaust. I'll wear the Frog Toggs pants with the Overpass jacket. Works for me.
I have the best (read most expensive) rain gear H-D makes. It is wind and water proof does not leak and it is comfortable and reflective at night.
On another rain front ~ If I am out riding and it starts to rain and I get wet, putting the rain gear on is a frickin nightmare. So I just ride in my chaps and a jacket until I can get someplace and dry it all off. With the Road Glide I stay pretty dry.
I also recommend those fabric clip on lowers. Store them with your rain gear and if you get up and it's raining put the lowers and raingear on and you can ride dry all day.

make sure you select the rain gear that matches your bikes pipes. there are different styles of rain pants and some of them don't line up very well. if you already have rain pants that don't line up - make some duct tape patches.
i used to smoke cigars while i rode (in the rain) and i burn't the middle finger of my rain gloves and the orange duct tape on the middle finger works pretty darn good - especially for communication with cages. LOL

The only option for something that is truely waterproof if Gore-Tex. I actually use the same jacket that I ski in and it works fine. As for pants, I just bought the pants at Bass Pro and they worked great when I was in Sturgis last week and got caught in a major downpour. I was dry while the rest of the guys is my group got soaked. The pants are really light weight and take up very little room in the bags.
