Default Other Bikes

I'm curious as to whether some of you guys and ladies also own other bikes that are NOT Harley.
&nbsp\\;
Last week, my neighbor from 3 doors down came riding by on a Honda twice&nbsp\\;and I flagged him down. I asked him when he got the bike and he said he had it for a couple weeks. I asked him why he hadn't come over and shown it to me. He said that he didn't think&nbsp\\;a guy on a Harley would be all that interested. I assured him that he had a nice bike and I also understand that not everyone can afford a Harley or even want one.
For one, I won't bash the&nbsp\\;metric bikes or their quality. There are some nice metric bikes out there, but I guess a lot of&nbsp\\;their riders think that we hate them or something. I have had 6 bikes, the first four being a Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda again. There is just no way I could afford a Harley back then and I wanted to ride, so I understand that you do what you have to do.
A few years ago, I was at the house of a friend who had an early 90s Harley Touring bike. This guy looked and still looks like an old veteran biker...... grey beard, worn out leathers,&nbsp\\; patches, etc. On the television was a picture of him and his wife at the Grand Canyon from years earlier. They were standing next to a ...WTF, a Goldwing???!!!!!&nbsp\\; I asked what that was all about and he told me that back in the late 70's when AMF owned Harley, that the HD bikes sucked and were unreliable. After constantly breaking down on Road Trips, he gave up and bought a Honda. He said he loved Harleys, but he wasnt stupid!
&nbsp\\;
So, how did you all start out and do you still own any of those "other" brands?

I've got 3 metrics (that includes the wife's bike). Can't knock the quality or the fun factor of any of them, but I enjoy riding the Road King more than the others.

My first bike was a Honda CB360T that I rode for 5 years and 53,000 miles. It never broke down once.
I rode it from Sacramento California to Pittsburgh in just over two days back in 1977.
&nbsp\\;
ouch

&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;RD-200, RD400, XS650, all Yamahas, A Suzuki Intruder 800. Then in July of 99 heard this distant thunder,&nbsp\\;I turned&nbsp\\;around and felt about a hundred Harleys making the slow lazy curve about 50 ft away, and that was when the bug bit. I didn't ride for about 14 years, then came the 99XLH 1200 and the big twins. Never regretted the entry into the world of HD.

I had that same bike in the late 70's and all I can say is that if I had made that trip on that bike my azz would STILL be sore, WOW!!!

Also ride 75 Triumph Trident T150, '76 Triumph Trident T160
&nbsp\\;
At the age of 53, two years ago,&nbsp\\;purchased my first Harley, when the magazines finally said their quality was as good as any other bike. I have certainly found that to be true.
