Default battery connections

yesterday in rode with 57 other bikes to the opening ceremony for the Vietnam Moving Wall in Guntersville, AL.&nbsp\\; it's the only city in alabama to get the wall in 2008.&nbsp\\; after the ceremony i observed a couple of the police who escorted the ride pushing one of their Road Kings trying to start it.&nbsp\\; I rode over and we pulled the seat and frame cover to get to the battery.&nbsp\\; i first saw that the battery cables were oriented in such a manner that the weight of the cables had loosened both connections.&nbsp\\; i tightened them and the bike fired right up.&nbsp\\; No future tickets from that guy!!!!&nbsp\\; Point is ensure that your cables are installed so the the weight pulls the connections in a clockwis manner to keep them tight.&nbsp\\; If not possible support the cables with cable ties so the the connections stay tight.

A lot of people neglect their battery and the connections until it's too late. You should make it a regular routine to check them&nbsp\\;once a month.

this was a really big problem when GM went to side post batteries for hood clearance.&nbsp\\; those cables are much heavier and easily loosen the connector bolts.
