I understand that most people are cheap. \\; But why would you want a discounted product? \\; You should want to buy something that holds value (I'm looking at the big picture here, try to keep up) \\; The biggest complaint I hear is that older Harleys are not holding their value in the marketplace. \\; Every new Harley sold at a discount makes your older Harley worth less. \\; Not really a stretch in the math department guys. \\; You should look forward to stabilized pricing and consumer demand. \\; It will level out the depreciation of older Harleys.
Look at the mess that is the American car market to see what discounting has done to demand and residual values.
Harley-Davidson Motorcycles are premium items, not ordinary fodder.
You can order a 2009 anytime you want. I ordered a 2009 FLHX a month ago.. They even had a production and estimated delivery date. Fully refundable deposit of $250.00.
I put my deposit in about a month back for an '09 Nightster, so anytime now you should be able to do the same. Mine's slated for delivery Aug. 15th but my sales rep hinted that it may be early. I believe he's already got some '09's in.
There is an 09 Sportster on the floor at Mikes Famous in New Castle. \\; I'm not remotely interested in a Sporty, so I didn't even look at it, but it is there!
 \\;
Be nice if the rest of em were here. \\; I really don't remember being this curious about a new model year before.
 \\;
I think I've bought into the hype. \\; Someone smack me!
Now here comes the high level stuff. \\;\\\\\\; Harley-Davidson is working hard to achieve a market in which the motorcycles sell for MSRP. \\;\\\\\\; What this means is that the Motor Company does not want over or under pricing of the motorcycles. \\;\\\\\\; They have taken steps to ensure consistent pricing going into the 09 model year. \\;
 \\;
Hopefully this will include the CVO bikes as well....no more $2-5k over \\; [:@]

That is a perfect example of why Harley shouldn't do the discounting that the auto manufacturers have done. As soon as you start discounting, everyone stops buying unless they get a bigger discount. And the used bike (that might only be a few years old), is not worth much.
the consumer dri\\;ves the market, anything is only worth what a individual will pay, you can say used bikes are soft (and they are) but again the right person on the right bike will pay what it takes to own it, i don`t see any reason to be so excited about the 09 \\; everyone keeps waiting for some magic bullet every yr, since 05 there really hasen`t been a big deal yeah the 96 than the 6 speed, but who really needs them you can take a 88 and make it a 95 with 1500 bucks that will blow away a 96, oh yeah you can buy a different color so go ahead and spend that 5000 more for a shade of black just ranting
Lucky for you "most people" are not cheap. If that were true HD would be long gone. A perfectly functional bike can be had all day long for 1/2 the price of HD.
