Default Question

Dropped my Helmet today. I have always heard it should be replaced if that happens. Just wanted to some other views. I dropped it inside on carpet. Looks okay, but thought I would ask.

I did a little research on this subject. I was told that if your head was in the helmet (GOD forbid a crash) when it was dropped, then yes, replace it by all means. It's the FOAM inside that is damaged from the wreck, it will lose it's ability to absorb the energy ...not so much the shell, although it can lose it's integrity also.
In your case...on carpet, wear it, and ride safe, and ride often.

If I replaced my helmet everytime it fell of the saddle of my bike and hit the pavement I wouldn't be able to afford to ride.&nbsp\\; The question ius wether the styrofoam shell inside the outer shell cracked.&nbsp\\; Very doubtful in your case.

unless you dropped it from a fairly high spot (no expert, just a thought - 4+ ft) and it landed on its crown\\\\\\; I wouldn't worry about it.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; I could be wrong, but I think even if your head is not in it, it loses some integrity when it hits hard.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; The design is to disperse the blow over a larger area and a strong blow will be sent to the styrofoam, which will compact some.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Again, unless high and hard, no problem.

Thanks - I kinda thought as much. It was about wast high. It did land on the crown. Not going to worry about it. Thanks for the input.
