When I was young and not dumb,I was the designated driver.I spent a good 15 years in bars as the wife of a musician.Never drove drunk, never rode drunk, never knowingly rode WITH anyone drunk. And I DO preach to those that drink and drive because of personal experience. And Ive been kicked out of some of the best bars in the USA for swinging from chandeliers, or other shenanagans, so I was never a party pooper, just knew what drinking would do.Kind of a DUH if you ask me.Those that dont care, maybe never will, hopefully some day they will see the DUH.And I DO stay off the streets past the 'drunk' hour.Lessens my chances of being killed even though there are ALWAYS drunks on the road.
Nope, won't drink and ride. Will have no more than two beers while on bike. I just got a guy nailed in the HD parking lot for DUI on his bike just the other day. Couldn't see lettin' him ride like that, plus being a cop in the next town/state over I was kinda obligated.

If ya drink and ya don't know when you're drunk and when you're not then you should't drive - ANYTHING! 4 wheels or 2 - fagitaboutit.
You gotta pace yourself and keep track of how much you drink in how much time. Now and then I go out for bike nite. I make three bars and the last one is out on Lake Travis. I'll have a beer each at the first two and two at the last. It takes me about five hours from when I leave to when I get home. Four beers in five hours is okay. Six in five hours is pushing it. More than six is over the line. Call a cab, Have the bike towed or pick it up tomorrow.
Of course there are other factors like body weight, food intake, how much sleep the night before, etc. Everybody is different. But like ole Josey said -
I freaking hate drunk drivers. Or to be politically correct I hate drunk Driving. I've seen upclose the pain and misery their selfish act causes. Innocent people DEAD or crippled for life. Teenagers with their whole lives in front of them. Having said that I think it's entirely possible to have a couple drinks and drive responsibly.
