I ride a 2003 Road King with a 95 Big Bore and a Stage II kit. \\; I just turned 40k this weekend, and my mechanic tells me that, since the guy who did the Big Bore didn't change the gears, I need to do that pretty soon. \\; I'm no mechanic. \\; What is this, and do I need it?
He probably means you need to change the chain driven cam set up for a gear driven setup.

+1 - either that or change the gears that the chain runs on..I opted for the direct drive gears when I did my cams and highly recommend them...
Yep, he's probably talkin 'bout replacin the cam chain drive with a gear drive setup. If the cam chain tensioners go, they'll cause catastrophic damage in yer engine...and they're usually good for 35,000-45,000 miles. Because of this li'l bit of info, I had mine checked at 45k...they were close enuf to givin up the ghost, my dealer replaced 'em under my extended warranty. If it hadn't been a "free" warranty thingy, I woulda gone back with the gear drive. Ya can open it up and take a look yerself...or I think it's 'bout a hunnert bucks labor to have 'em checked out.
