I've seen lots of guys that look like you (long hair... tattoos... especially at a bar I used to frequent in Chattanooga that attracted a lot of bikers) but your height and weight are overpowering. I'm taller than a lot of guys and probably weigh just as much as them scrawny fellas. I'm taller than my own husband!
You don't scare me but I know my children would be nervous around you. Hell, my step daughter is a little reserved around her uncle who has long hair, a beard, and tattoos (I think.. I've only been around him a few times.. hubby's brother). So with that said, some "kid on a scooter" might be rather intimidated by the "big bad biker dude."
I wouldn't take it to heart. The "rough" look you have can be intimidating to a lot of people.

Did you look back with a snarl and your eyebrows slanted? Or with a friendly smile like a huggable bear? Okay, you scared the wanna be 'biker' with your genuine status and he was afraid you would strip him of his girliemanhood.
Dont take it to heart though, you meant well and I hope this doesnt stop you from doing it in the future. People like yourself gain back the respect we deserve even though we carry the "biker" look. We really are sincere people...
