I've never waved at a scooter, but maybe I will start since that seems to be the common thing to do. I wave at any mc if I see them, unless I'm on the clutch then I will nod.
I wave when waved at. What irks me are the "tough" ones that won't wave when waved at. "Course I ride w/a helmet in a no helmet state. All folks w/helmets wave, either first or in response to me. I usually wait for the wave before responding in kind. Saves the frustration from being ignored.
What irks me are the people who feel the need to wave at every goddamn person they see on two wheels and then get irked when they don't get a response.I like to act like I'm about to wave and then at the last second I scratch my head and fake the other guy out.
Stop waving and just ride
i wave to anyone who waves at me. general human politeness. now if hes 350 and wearing full biker gear and riding a vespa, i chuckle a little bit. but then again, i chuckle to myself a little bit when i see a 900 year old biker chick in low cut leather shirts/short shorts too.
I wave more when on the back of the ultra, when riding my bike, I wave if conditions are right. Scooters sometimes wave back, but I too have never seen one start the way. I think it looks cool when you get to big groups head to head on a two lane everyone with a slow long low way...
I have yet to be waved by a mc. They seem to be pre-occupied with something. I know they must think they are better than the rest of us.
I wave to everyone.. I did get the return of a one finger salute from a M/C member on an ultra once.. Some are not happy with our 3 piece Ministry Patch.
You wave and I'll wave back. It does get trying at times though. Some days I pass 20-25 motorcycles on my 25 mile stretch of highway coming home from work. If I'm tired of waving and don't wave back, it ain't personal.
I won't initiate a "scooter wave", but have no problem waving back. Anyone with the ***** to ride around on a piece of chit that won't get out of it's own way, all the while looking like a geek on a moped on steroids has my respect.

I wave to everyone I pass on two wheels, and a lot of times four. Motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, bicycles... I wave to farmers in their fields, people walking their dogs, people on their front porch kicked back resting their dogs, school busses, cops, firefighters, security guards... I don't give a crap if they wave back or not. If they do, great. If not, well they may just be the type that don't wave or have something on their mind and don't think to wave. I am OK with that. I am just happy and thankful to be alive another day and out on my bike enjoying the day.
