After a long time as my passenger, my wife is now riding her own. Between her time on the back (she was brand-new to riding at all) and riding with me now, I am training her to ride the way I do so there is no problem. On the rare group ride I go with, I just know going out that I am likely not going to be happy with the riding style.

I enjoy riding with others, just to have someone to share the experiences with. And Momma and I ride right at 60 or so. I will adjust to what speed others are doing, no problem.
We also 'pack' ride with a couple of MC's. They like '***** to the walls' riding, and I am not into that............anymore. But will do it for short runs.
I have my ol' iron geared to run very comfortably(sweet spot in rpm range) at 65-70. I know where they are headed, will just meet 'em there, rather than 85+ and hammer my scoots to death. Used to do top ends too often, just to keep up, not worth it to me, again, anymore.

I like riding alone right now...went out for a solo 3 hour run Saturday morning on some back roads...9:30am - 12:30pm. Perfect weather. Little to no traffic. It was great.

I like riding with my dad sometimes, but he rides slooooowwww, like 10 mph below the speed limit sometimes... I am always looking in my rear view wondering where the hell he went to....

There are a group of guys I try to go riding with around here but our schedules are always conflicting...

On a sidebar to that... yesterday I was out tooling around solo. I was into southern Vermont and I came up behind another rider for about 5 miles. We stop at a signal and being the "everyones friend" kinda guy I am, I pull right up beside him at the light and give him a nod. The guy just sits there stoned faced, looking ahead. lol. So I rolled the poochie and let out a little bark... lol... and the guy just looks at me. Next thing I know, we're doing 80-85 in a 45 zone. I pulls up beside him on a straight run and he's laughing his *** off now. We slows down and stop at a stop sign. It was definately a different attitude and conversation after that... we were both having a pretty good time.

...I love days like that.

Sounds like you made a friend!

Depends on where I am and whether I'm in a cruising mood or hammering mood. I don't mind riding alone, it gets the BS from work out of me and I don't have to worry if I'm too slow or too fast.

I ride with a group, and we have all come to know each others style. The "smell the roses" riders are in the back, and the "full throttle" riders are in front. I never ride fast around other riders, I save that for when I am alone and not going to endanger anyone but myself.

I’m just the opposite; my former wife was a very aggressive rider. She liked highways and would cruise 10-20 mph over the speed limit. I prefer staying off the expressways and putting along at 50-55. I have ridden in groups of up to 300 bikes, but really prefer a group of less than 6 bikes. The best group size is two when you both have the same agenda on the same day (or ride).

Me Too !
Mine just happens to be my Wife !
She rode for a 3 years on the back of my Classic then at age 40 she surprised me by
asking if she could ride her own after seeing a few Women in the HOG Group we use
to be in ride their own. It was weird because I have been riding since I was 16 and
we have been married for 29 years and I would have taught her long ago if she wanted.
Well after riding her 2000 Sporty for 2 years (6,000 miles) she got a 2002 FXD which
now has 30,000 miles and in 2006 she got a 2007 SG and it has 14,000 miles.
I must say even thou I like having a small group to lead and chat with at rest/gas
stops. Sometimes the BEST riding is when "WE" ride alone together because she has
ridden with me so much she keeps up to me (99% of the time) no matter how fast
I ride. Well in a straight line that is, because I can throw the bike around easier through
the corners then her and she will not ride over her head. On of the fondest memories was
riding up to Laconia in 2007 doing 85 mph up Rt.93 in the left lane blowing by packs of
other bikes that were riding in the right lane and she was there right behind me doing
the same and LOVING IT !
Rob ....
