Default Storage Help

I'm a Marine recently stationed in Hawaii and I'm running into issues finding a place here that with a garage or suitable parking. Moisture (corrosion) and theft are my main concerns. My plan is to run down to Home Depot to buy a shed, put a dehumidifier in it, and bypass the parking issue.

1. Does anyone see a problem with this?
2. Does anyone know a good shed that would stop island rain/salt spray?
3. General comments.

I purchased a Tuff Shed(brand)for general storage for my house thru Home Depot. It is built very well and was installed by the Tuff Shed Co.With some more work it could be insulated. They have sizes that would work with your bike.
You would have to consider the cost according to how long you will be stationed there.I would say your looking at about $1500-$2500.Maybe higher there?
Are there any self serve enclosed storage places there?

Humidity is a tough deal. If you build a shed, the doors need to seal and it needs some kind of home wrap or sealing capacity for the dehumidifier to work efficiently. As mentioned above, climate controlled self storage.

When I deploy, my bike is getting a Harley Bubble in a storage facility. I'm trying to find a daily solution here.

It's also great that Tuff Shed doesn't do business in Hawaii.

Is there "base housing" that maybe you could rent/lease a half of a garage space from
a Sgt or maybe a riding Officer in your outfit?
You did say if you are in a barracks or not. Where are you going to put this 'shed'?
If it is able to fit more than one bike, could you split the cost with another rider?
I live near daytona Beach FL. Hot, Humid to say the least. I keep my bike in a non-sealed shed in my back yard. I keep the bike clean and wipe it down with spray detailer
twice a week. It does OK. You just need a shed to keep the bike out of the rain.
Keep the bike clean and dry it off after you ride in the rain.

I was stationed at PH and lived at Ewa Beach and stored my old Dyna for a year and a half in an open bay w/o a cover with no adverse affects; now Guam is another story! A Home Depot-type cheap shed should do just fine esp. if you throw a cloth (breathable) cover over it. Fill the gas tank and put a gas inhibitor in it to keep it from gunking up (will still run through after 13 months, too).

I think it's a good idea. It wouldn't be 100% anti-theft, but tons better than nothing at all. If you're gonna do the dehumidifier thing, get something like that spray foam that expands to fill all the corners and get something to help the doors seal the best you can and that should be fine. Like themensh said, I think if you ride quite often, just having it "inside" something will keep just fine, as long as you wipe her down every once in awhile. The long term storage would be the fun one.

Good luck with the project and let us know the pros/cons.

I live in NC and humidity never really factored in...i think maybe you are thinking too much into it. Now the theft and general storage thing, yes! Just keep her wiped down and address rust as it comes up...but the shed and de-humidifier would work, but consider the electric bill too, those machine draw serious power from what i was told...and you would have to keep it on alot...

How about a small enclosed trailer. They seem to seal up pretty good.
