I had a 2001 1200C for about three and a half years -- Loved it! I still miss it sometimes - - but I needed a touring bike for longer rides and 40 mile one way commute to work.....Now I ride a Geezer Glide -- Love it too!..couldn't afford both, so the Sporty went in for the trade ................who cares what people call them -- -

take a look at how/where you are riding - - makes a difference - -- generally, the dealer can tell you about the demographics in your area if your on a thin deciding line --

The non rubber motor mount bikes will vibrate your arms out of their sockets. [:@]
I rode a '76 Sporty for a summer. Helluva bike! Just too damn light for me. Felt like a bicycle with a motor between my legs. But that bike could run.... and vibrate it did! Never could do more than 400 miles in a day...

Now that is totally uncalled for!!

Road King = Goldwing wannabe
So if you had a GW 1500, sold it and a few years later bought a Road King it would be Goldwing = Road King wannabe

All depends on how you look at things.
