thanks everyone for all your kind words, they are very much appreciated and help me get through. it has not been easy, but i am managing. as i said, i was an inch or so away from death, so i count my self lucky. the fractures are of course on my right side, which is my dominant hand. Now i have to re-learn how to do things with my left, which makes things take a little longer. getting dressed takes 20 min, for example. to rockytoprider, thanks especially for your words from your experiences. Percocets and lots of Motrin have been my best friend!

Ouch, glad yer well enough to joke & write about the mishap. Best wishes and prayers sent and if you feel you can eat ribs with just your left hand let me know and I'll drop off a rack.
