Default Experience.

Strarted riding motorcycles in 1949, on a Wizard. Have owned Honda, Suzuki, kawasaki, Triumph, and prolly some other makes. First Harley was a Hummer in 1949. Have owned Panheads, Shovels, Evo's, and currently ride a 2001 RoadKing that I bought new. Really wanting an 09 Ultra, and Sportster, and ....half a dozen other bikes. Need to hit the lottery. Good riding to all.

What time is it?!? LOL! I'm the real newbie here I guess. Since July '08. Played around years ago in my 20's with a friend's bike but never owned a bike or rode one other then in a parking lot.

You gotta start somewhere! So far I put about 1800 miles on the bike on . Not bad I guess. I have a 06 and when I bought it it only had 1850 miles on it.

Been ridin long enough that I prefer to ride alone. Been drunk in enough bars to know that a few punches between friends is kinda like a fight with your wife, when it's over you buy each other a drink and forget about it. I think I've matured enough to know when to mind my own business and let others live as they choose (within the limits of hurting only themselves if that's what they are into). And I think I've learned to when to Shut UP so that's what I'll do now.l

All together 41 years , but Harleys only .. 37 years ..

A few British bikes in those 37 years as well ..

Probably well over a million miles .. Never kept track until the last two baggers before this one , combined they had about 570thou between them ..

Hopefully I'll get at least a million more in before the expiration date is filled in on my birth certificate ..

This has turned into a surprisingly good thread - a lot of people opening up, and lots of varied experience. I enjoyed reading it all.

Me? I got my first bike in 1977 - a '74 Honda CB450. A year later I graduated to a '78 Yamaha XS-11, which was the fastest production mortorcycle in the world at that time. I soon added a stable-mate, a '76 Sportster. In '79 or '80, I rode with a couple of other guys from Massachusetts to Alaska on a borrowed Honda 750. That was before the Alcan was paved all the way. Lemme tell ya... that was an experience! Amazingly, I'm still friends with the guy I borrowed it from. I took an 11 year hiatus from bikes shortly after my twin daughters were born, much to the relief of my wife. I'm back in the saddle now on an '08 Night Train and wondering why I ever left.

36 years on all kinds of street bikes: 4-Hondas, 2-Yamahas, 2-Suzukis, 1-Kawasaki, 1-BSA, 1-Norton, 1-BMW and 2-Harley-Davidsons. Enjoyed most (not all) of them.
