I started out on a mini-bike at 4, that I grabbed the throttle on - legs went out the back - ended up laying on the seat and wouldn't let go, going full throttle till I hit a fence in a field!!! LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it and haven't stopped riding since. From dirt bikes till I was 15 and got my first street bike - a Honda CB125 with mechanical front disc brakes and all (that didn't work) Ended up rear-ended a drunk driver who cut in front of me turning into a hotel at the top of me street! while I was carrying dog food home. Anyway, bikes were cheaper than a car which I couldn't afford. So I rode bikes and haven't been without one since. All types and kinds. Most that I had to tinker with, which I also love.
I also had a Puch pedal scooter in High School! Tough to pick dates up on, but cheap, and it got my to my Surfing class for 1st period at the beach, and then on to school for 2nd period and on.......
Oh...they days....

(I grew up in Southern California - Born in Long Beach - High School in San Clemente - Hence the Surfing class in school)

Street since '76, dirt motorcycles since about '71-72, dirt mini-bikes around '68. Got my first bicycle for my 3rd birthday in '62. Did some unsanctioned motocross through the years, where I learned a neat little trick: hitting the other rider's kill switch when they come up on my left. The bunch I rode with did it so much, some of us moved the switch to the left bar.

I fooled around on my neighbors dirt bike when I was a kid. Never really got serious till 2001 when I bought a Buell Blast which I out grew almost instantly ( I'm 6ft 210lbs) but hey the bike was used and something to learn on. Took the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Riders Course. I just purchased my first 2009 DYNA SuperGlide Custom but as I am a US soldier stationed in Iraq I will not even get to ride till December. Im hopeing for an exceptionally warm winter in Colorado Springs this year lol. Oh back to the question I guess I have been riding for about 5 years.

Default 48 years in the wind

I started riding in 1960 when I was 15 so let's see.... 0 from 8 is 8, borrow 10... well you get the idea. 48 years in the wind.

I started on a Triumph Cub, worked in a bike shop during high school and rode lots on a borrowed BMW R50 (the owners) and other Brit bikes, owned an Ariel Red Hunter (sure wish I still had it!). Then did a 3 year stint in Uncle Sam's Army and when I got back from Nam I went rice. My dad, not being into bikes, bought me a little CL175 Honda as a welcome home present. That lasted about six months... just enough to be polite before it got traded in on a CB450 which was all I could afford at the time. Kept that for a few years and then bought a CB900C which I rode into the ground. Now have my Street Bob. Lot's of miles between that Cub and now! This coming summer I plan to take the Bob cross country from West Virginia to Northern California and back as part of my "bucket list".

Been at it a little over 30 years. Raced motocross for a while and basically grew up in the dirt until I turned 18. Been riding harleys ever since. If there was anyplace around here to go trail riding, I'd get another dirt bike.
