Gots a sidecar rig. We LOVE it.

We use it for running 'round the campgrounds at rallies, and for parades in conjunction with Da Cap'n.

I have only driven a rig once. Handful, but funner than all get out.

I love Ironass's idea. Guess an Ultra with a sidecar rig would now be a "TOURGLIDE".

If I'm doing something in the garage my 4 year old grand daughter is right there and climbs up on the Sportster. I'd like to take her around the block on the RG but I have no way to do it where I feel she would be safe. She will be 5 in a couple months so I think by late spring or early summer '09 she will be ready if I can put her "in" something rather then "on".

Enter the side hack. I have been looking for a while and found two that I like; one from Hannigan in TN, the other from Secco Spalding in TX.

Hannigan has a very nice operation, produce what looks to be a good car and will build it my way. They will give me an extra 4 inches between the car and the bike. That should be enough room to open the right bag without making changes to the bag. I had planned on being in Texas this week to look at the Secco Spalding operation and to test drive a Stallion trike. Unfortunately Ike changed my plans.

RoadGlide, these folks make a dandy hack, too. I especially like the pic with the hack on the '97 White/Red FLSTS. What a looker in this ol' fart's eyes.

Take the time to look thru their pics and specs. Some really decent rides in there.

I rode a Goldwing with a California sidecar for over 15 years, enjoyed the ride and the attention you get. Like some of the others said, the sidecar will be a totally different ride. They handle sort of weird, they are a drag when you start off and a push when you are stopping. I kept about 100 pounds of extra weight to keep the sidecar from coming up when you make right hand turns. You have to actually push and pull the handle bars when you turn. Depending on how wild your 5 year old is, I think she will be old enough to ride in the sidecar, just remember to tell her that she will have to wear a helmit at all times. You will be the center of attention everywhere you go, but be ready to stand-up to all the idiots that will want to complain about putting a child on a bike no matter where they ride.

There is a guy in town who has a Ural w/ sidecar. He rides all the FS roads and goes everywhere, pavement or no pavement.

We went to 2 local toy runs that year and he loved it! They were all town roads 25-35 MPH. He had his own biker jacket and helmet/sunglasses. It was a memorable time for me.

I've never understood the whole "too young to go riding .YES , riding can be dangerous ,but so is life in general , you can fall out of bed & land wrong & break your neck, besides the "too young" thing mean it's OK for the parent to get killed? One thing if the kid can't be still , but wha the hell does that have to do with age?
