Default Rider-activated rear cyclinder shut down on new touring models

I read that the '09 Touring models have a rider-activated rear cylinder shutdown. I don't know whether it replaces the heat management system or is in addition to it. Interesting, did't know...

The salesman at the HD Dealer last night was saying something about that... I thought he was full of crap so i walked away while he was talking to one of my buddies.

Turn on the cruise control button and roll you throttle back past 0 positon and the cruise control light changes color. Your back cylinder will not shut down at an idle if the temp goes to high. I now have 1000 miles on my 09 UC and ride in FL. Have not needed to use this feature yet. May need it in Daytona.

It works. I'm in lot of stop and go traffic riding home from work in Florida. It kicks on and you will hear a noticeable difference in the engine.

Wasn't that feature implemented for more economical fuel management rather than heat reduction, which they "solved" by the new exhaust routing system? (I have yet to ride one, so I don't know if it actually works; I certainly hope it does...) Reminds me of the V8-loaded SUV's & trucks that shut down half the cylinders to save fuel when steadily cruising or at lower speeds.

It's for parade mode. If you turn it on a small robotic mechanical arm pops out of the fairing and removes your helmet and puts one of those red Al Koran dixie cup hats with the gold tassle on your head. Then you are in full blown Shriner Mode...
