The dealer's are all about the money. They may make you think your getting a deal, but somehow..they are screwin ya...I just knows it..I do..
I stay away.
is it honored all across the country network of dealerships or just where you purchased it?
If I understand the program correctly, it is good at any dealer that has the MVP program but not all dealers have it. I've been happy with it. I got my 500 & 1k service absolutely free. That more than paid for the $50.00 lifetime membership fee. I can (and have) ordered online, 15% 0ff, and they will ship it to my house for free. They have lots of special events for MVP members and service specials and tire programs. I have purchased the service manual (20% off) and will now do my own wrenching!!
I am a member and its better than nothing. I bought parts with insurance money on my last bike so the fee of 45 bucks paid for itself immediately.
I am Gold right now.
I can tell you this every year you drop back one level. I think August.
Example I'm Gold now, and in August go back to Silver.
You then need 60 point to get back to gold or drop again.
Total Bullsh*t.
Blood sucking leaches.
I too am at Baltimore Harley and was supposed to be entitled pick up for service. They are full of sh*t. Fortunately they did not call my bluff. I avoid the dealer as much as possible for service.
My dealer doesn't have mvp program but I get 15% off 1 part and 15% any 1 item of clothing each month. The good part is the parts dont have to be hd. And they run pretty good winter specials, that I took advantage of last year and got 20% off all my parts I ordered which I did spend quite a few $$$.
+1 on the out-of-state orders! I call Hales HD in Ohio and get 20% on anything, even the thongs and PJs!! They add shipping, but use exact actual numbers, not a handling fee. Ordered my quick-release windshield and got $82.80 off the list. Paid $15 UPS costs, and had it in 3 days. $67.80 cheaper than my local shop. Only thing they ask is "out of state?, do you know your part number?". Buddy of mine has almost $10,000 of chrome on his FatBoy, all purchased at Hales. Saved close to $1850, and that was after shipping costs!! Very nice folks to deal with as well.
badinfluence63 ... I understand it has no connection to Harley-Davidson. The dealers buy into a franchise for thier area. The last I knew there were only 14 MVP dealers in the US.

I joined the MVP program at Stone Mountain HD when I bought my Road King. It was around 40 bucks for a lifetime membership, and it paid for itself the first month. You accrue points based on purchases, so when I bought my second bike, I topped out at the 15% discount level. That's significant. If you plan on buying any parts for your bike, I'd go ahead and join the program.
Any accessories we bought the day we bought our bike in June of '06 we got 15% off. We continue to get 10% off on anything we buy, at anytime. No membership, just a good dealer that does this for all his new bike customers.
