Very happy with all my Red Wings. For riding, I usually wear these http://www.redwingshoes.com/productd...px?prodid=1039
One of the models still made in the USA.

Some of the Red Wing work boots have soles that are less heat-resistant than average. Melty melty on the pipes. A little Flitz takes that crap right off, though. None of the Vibram-soled models have that problem. Well - they will still melt on a bare pipe, but not instantaneously.

Changed the laces to black 'cause I am a poser.

My HD brand boots finally gave up the ghost after 9 years and over 56K miles of abuse.
Soles finally seperated riding in 105 degree temps for 6 hours.
My problem is with 14EEE it's kinda hard to find good fitting boots you can wear all day.

Defin. 5.11s, I wear both HRTs and Strike boots. Good to ride, good to walk in.

being a former cowboy of sorts (not really, but we owned a mini ranch) I ride in an old pair of Ariat boots I've got. They aren't waterproof, but they are the most comfortable boots I've every owned.

http://www.copshoes.com/c-bates-assa...s-p-B2272.html Bates are incredibly comfortable boots. I buy mine at Academy. I ridden the country in them, Elk hunted Oregon snow. I walk (hike) a three mile trail/off road route every morning in them. They are very strong but incredibly lite weight. Reinforced with composite fiberglass instead of metal. The site has other models that have stronger toes etc but I like the durability of this model. Shows 145.00 but I get mine a Academy and I think they are right at 100.00 for this model which is the most expensive Bates model they carry. I swear by them and have worn all sorts of boots my entire life. I get about 9 mo's out of a pair but you can see above I really and literally put a lot of miles on them. As a side note they really look good too, kind of military style. The bad....when worn out they need to be replaced like a athletic shoe instead of being repairable.

I had a pair of the cruzer works, very comfortable but I wore through the soles in less than a year. I now have had a pair of Danner's Fort Lewis boots for five years; they are comfortable and I also use them for hunting. They are Gore-Tex lined and will keep your feet dry in the rain.
