Are you a tall guy?

The mid location ergonomically is the better position. To shift your body weight around requires the use of the ***** of your feet. It also helps to take some pressure off your back because you can use your legs as a form of suspension. Even if you don't think about it, you actually do tighten your legs up a bit when you go over bumps and this helps to keep pressure off your back.

You can't do that with forward pegs. If your hands are forward and your feet are forward then your butt and back are just sitting like lumps. It's very bad posture and may not be right for you.

I'm getting forward controls with my Fat Bob just because I have legs like a spider!! If I didn't have such long legs then I think I would get both, like mentioned above, so I could switch around depending on where I was riding.

5'8" and forwards are the best position for foot controls.

The only drayback IMHO, is when you can't get outta the way of a bump, and you want to stand up off of the seat for a second..., that takes more effort with forward controls.

But if you have nice roads where you live, that may not be an issue.

I have a 36" inseam & put 9" extended forward controls on my Road King.
There are a couple of sets on e-Bay right now for some ridiculously low prices.
The dealer wants $918 for a set. I paid $560 on e-Bay but there's a set on there now with a "Buy it Now" of $400.

On a street glide it is going to be the brake pedal position and the heel/toe shifter that is going to be the difference. I rode a friends Fatboy and had to keep looking down at my feet to place them correctly. The motor control of my left foot for shifting is so automatic after 40 years with pegs that I really had to concentrate when shifting.

I had forward controls on my Sporty and, though they were comfortable, didn't care for them when riding twisties. I much prefer sitting with my legs more under me when doing tight turns. My EGS feels more confident in corners than the Sporty because the foot boards get my feet below me much better. Just my $.02.

Have Forwards on my 1400 and love em. Actually not much of an option as my 34 inseam required them felt like a monkey and a football with the stock pegs. Now my Ultra, I need to move the brake and stretch out the shifters.........
