well i finally had a response to the you tube video of the handicapped biker in the wheelchair that has the trike. i sent the video off to everyone i could think of, bike builders that is and ChoppersInc, billy lane responded. said =We are so behind in our bills we don't have the money but maybe donate some
parts and time if you can get bike here who know I'll talk it over with
Billy Thanks for asking.
i still think if everyone that watched the video did the same thing that something would happen, after all whats it going to hurt. i think it would be really good for the biker community to see this guy get something a little nicer than he has, as i said before if he doesnt like what they build he can sell it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dO_5yWCj2w
Personally, I think that trike is cool as ****, and I bet he made it himself... I didn't see where he was asking for any help? looked like he shot a video to show his pride in his ride... I can imagine the crowds of people admiring that trike wherever he goes... I know I would.
believe it or not, not everyone lives by chrome and paint... take some time to go to a Smokeout rally sometime to see the creative **** some people build in their garages and such. and stop applying your own standards to other people's rides.
I know if I were in his place, and you took it upon yourself to launch a national campaign to replace a trike I built for myself, I'd be a little pissed.

JMHO.
+1.... looks like a Rat Rod... and he sure seemed proud of it and his accomplishment.
if you really want to help someone, I have a cousin that was born with Spina Bifida and would love a trike. build him one.
boy how dumb i am. i thought that it would be cool to see one of the big builders build him something new. like i said if he didnt like it he could sell it. either way he would win. as for your cousin, well hes your cousin not mine. if he needs something you might try helping him instead of asking other people to do it for you. i forgot that most people here just want to post pictures of there bikes and talk about how great they are. if they were really that happy with there bike that wouldnt have to keep showing it and trying to get some kind of approval from other people. like i said, i just thought it was a cool video and figured with all the bikes they build, for idiots out there, this guy would appreciate it. and if not he could sell it.

I know my response wasn't what you were looking for... but personally, I would walk past a whole row of $60k choppers to check this bike out and talk to the owner about how he made it. Despite what the mags would indicate, I prefer bikes built by real people. I respect a bike built by the owner's blood and sweat a thousand times more than any creation where the owner's sole involvement was to write the check. and I also thought it was arrogant of you to assume to take it upon yourself to replace this guy's ride when I never saw any indication he was looking for help getting a new one...
p.s. - I also thought it was cool of choppers inc to offer up some parts even tho they are going thru some tough times themselves. Billy Lane has caught a lot of **** for some bad choices he made (and rightfully so), but this to me shows he has at least a little bit of class.
pps - and yes I am proud of my bike... I am most proud that it hasn't been back to the dealer except for one warranty issue and all the other work on it I have done myself to make it mine. I am proud that my roadglide isn't like everyone else's. I am equally proud of my 1999 yamaha roadstar that I built myself, wrecked and then rebuilt again. I am also proud of the 1975 honda chopper I built last winter with 2 buddies in our garages out of bits and pieces we scrounged, fabricated or modified to fit. I am proud that we rode our honda chopper 800 miles roundtrip to the Smokeout East where we saw thousands of other bikes that were built in the same spirit, and people loved talking to us about ours. and if anyone ever looked at any of my bikes and offered to start a campaign to get a builder to make me a new one, I would tell them to go take a flying ****.

The guy looks pretty happy to me. Do you know if he even wants something else? I have quite a few friends riding old bikes and they wouldn't change a thing on them. Moneys not a issue either.
what i see is that billy did step up and that makes me respect him even more than before. you could be right, maybe he wouldnt like a new bike, yeah right. i built my own bike, custom engraved parts and hand made parts, would i trade it for a new one, hell yeah, why, because its new. i just made a, what i thought was, a simple suggestion. where he is from doesnt matter to me, and shouldnt matter to anyone else. i just thought with all the bikes, and trikes, they build, it would be bitchen to see them build this guy one. do you really think he wouldnt take it or would sell it, i dont think so, hey it would be new, just ride it. not 100% of the time, but often than not, people that say they wouldnt trade there old bike for a new on are saying that because they know that thats not going to happen. i have a 1990 and would love a new one, ofcourse id like it to look like my 90 but be all new, aint going to happen.
