I’ve been flirting with the idea of buying my first Harley for years now?
If a girl was flirting with me for years without ever putting out, I'd consider her a ****-TEASE!!
I've got the Fat Bob on order. I certainly would have loved to test ride it first...........actually, I would have even liked to see one in person. There are NONE down here. I can only look at it on the internet
But, I think for the type of riding you're going to do, I would get the RK.
And yes, even my rice-burner/crotch rocket magazine voted the Harley Fat Boy #1 cruiser in 2007 and nothing but great things to say about it.

Check out the Ultra. If you liked the SG, you'll like the Ultra as it is better equipped for long trips. The cruise control and intercom are options that I wouldn't do without also.
The road king sits higher and has more ground clearance. I rode both the 2009 Fat Bob and the 2009 Road King before. The Fat Bob is a nice bike and I think great for around town driving. It's a whole different story getting on the King. I'm 6'-1" and found the King to be a much better fit. In fact, I liked the King out of all bikes I've ridden so far (including other 2009 touring models).
Thanks Bluet,
I am leaning towards RK myself but haven't tested it yet. Local dealer does not have any in stock for the moment. Perhaps when I slide down to Miami in November, I'll just rent one. I am not sure if I should go Classic or RK with the hard bags. 2009 RKs hard-baggers have longer wheel base too.
Welcome to the club and get used to the occasional roasting. In my two up days the RK had it all over the Dyna I had previously been riding and we did a lot of kilometers on a lot of different types of highways and byways. Now that momma is ridin' her own machine I'm going back to a Dyna and already have a Fat Bob on order - seems like a nice machine. I'll try it for a while and if it doesn't meet my expectations - it'll be some other model the local stealer can rip me off on. By the way; got rid of my 2nd K1200RS not too long ago as I just never went out on it anymore - great bike too but you just can't compare that sort of machine with a Harley. Good luck
I know what you mean and I wasn't trying to comapare the two. KR is a naked sport beemer for different types of rides and frankly for me, it's getting to be a trip on my back, knees, neck... you got the idea.
Few years back I got me a M109R, and was contemplating V-rod but size made a decission for me (both mine and bike's lol) so I'll be more careful this time as I was a bit dissapointed with my purchase. I guess budget played the role too. I am happy now that I can afford new HD and am quite content with this decission. S--t, can't hardly wait to get one. I guess from me it is still Hardly Davidson but I am getting there with dealer's help
Thanks guys. Just came back from the dealership. They did not have RKs at all. Expecting new shipment here in November, so I'll have to wait. I did try to sit on few bikes and still find Fat Bob more comfortable for some reason but Glide however is slowly gliding on me and I did like the feel of it. Booked the test ride for this Friday on both Bob again and the Glide. We'll se what happens. How does the Bob look like with saddle bags and/or back rest? Any pics? Guess I'll google it.
I just went through all this too. I do a lot of 2 up riging with my wife on our Softail Std. & wanted to add a second bike for comfort & longer rides and test drove 3 Glides & a Heritage. We ended up with the Heritage today as we both loved it. With bags & the tour pac it's the best of everything. Smooth around town & very comfortable on the open road. Everyones milage will vary on this so just go ride a few & don't leave out the Heritage. It's much more comfortable than a Fatboy for 2 up riding right out of the box.

Love the look of Fat Bob, and price in 2009 came down I think at least a grand but crap, I feel cramped on it. Otherwise I would serriously consider Fat Boy. For the same reason, HCs are out of question for me. Just hoping the same thing does not bug me on the RKC once I sit on it. That's why I though to check RK and hope that the longer wheelbase will make some difference. If this fails too, Fat Bob it is. I tested it and realy liked, in fact loved the way it rides + very comfy. I couldn't buy it before testing RKs first as I read somewhere that all HD riders end up on a RK eventually. If it holds true, I am thinking why wait

You should try the Cross Bones, it's totally not what you want, so you would have to buy a second bike for the touring....
Just an idea.

Like your idea. lol. Love the look of Xbones but the ride not so much. I did test it few months back and was hoping for a different feel. I liked Heritage too but have too long legs for a comfortable feel. Nothing against Heritage though.
