Gotta agree with the "wimp" comment. It pained me greatly just ride away but I made a promise to my wife after the last time I had to adjust someones thinking (and face) with physical violence that I wouldn't do that again unless it was in response to a physical threat to myself or family. Sometimes we just have to let things go even when it would give us great satisfaction to do otherwise. Call me a wimp if you like (and I may not disagree)....just don't threaten me or my family at the same time
Nothing personal, bro, but you should have at least ASKED the hubby. Put him on the spot. But hey, we've all been there and it is easy to play arm-chair quarterback. Hindsight is always 20-20, as they say.

I commend you, greatly, and you did the right thing. It took more of a man to walk away from that situation, the other option would have probably landed you in jail and cost more money on top of repairing your ride. Hey look at the bright side....you have an excuse for a custom paint job.
I usually have the problem of acting before thinking. I would probably make the argument to the wife that OUR Harley is part of our family!! Although I know I would lose the argument, I always do.

. Went over to the bike and checked it out - there was a "C" shaped scratch about 8 inches long down the middle of the top of the tank. I sat on it for five minutes looking at the tank, looking at the womans
Guess she was leaving her name on your bike. was that a capitol c followed by her last 3 letters?
Yeah situation like that not sure what Id done but I would have at least had to grill her ol man on it. preety chicken chit stuff and evidently he feels ok with it.Well like the ol saying goes what goes around comes around.
Shoulda called the cops and let them "talk" to the dude fixin his bike. I'm sure they would have led him and his what-ever she is away in hand cuffs. That's when ya key his bike then kick it over as he is looking out the back window of the squad car at ya. Remember not to talk to the police after that though. 8-)
Our HD dealership has cameras everywhere except the crapper.
Then again maybe your dealer is owned by an individual named Chuck Berry and it has installed cameras in there also.
I always hear how HD owners are such friendly, down-to-earth, easy going people. From what I observe, it is the exact opposite. I am seeing a lot of attitude out there. People act as if they think that owning a Harley-Davidson is a sign of superiority over others and that everyone else should treat them as such. HD owners cut down people who ride different brands of motorcycles. They key tanks when you park too close. Get a group together and the "road captain" acts as if he controls the passage of UN Security Council resolutions binding on all nations. Maybe it is just Wisconsin, but the friendliest people I run across are riding Hondas and Yamahas. These are people who own a motorcycle to ride the dang thing, not to artificially prop up their self-image or sense of worth.
Sorry to hear about your paint job. Your story reinforced the idea that when it comes to parking any vehicle, doing it away from the crowd is the best way to go.

Maybe I'm going off topic here, but it seems like people are philosophizing about how wonderful it is to do nothing when people screw with you - sort of like those hippies in the old Billy Jack movies, I guess. Somebody tell me, when did we start calling letting somebody screw with you and doing nothing about it "the high road" or decide it makes you a "better man" or "more of a man." I always thought of it as just the opposite.
Sorry but I got entirely too much Irish in me to have let that go. Keying something is about the most pussified thing someone can do and at the very least they needed the ever living sh*t scared out of them. People have no respect for other people's property anymore it seems and you should have done your part to help America get back on the right track.
