I do agree with MFHD. No it's not a toy. And yes make sure the bike is not hot, be there to hold it up if needed. But those kids will talk about and remember that for a long time.
Happened to me when I was about 7.

Ok, I'll be the desenter here. It's not the kids, its their parents who make idiots out of them. I see way to many parents who just let their kids run wild in a restaurant ruining everyone who is present dinner, parents who don't teach their kids to respect other people's property. It's not happened to me but saw about a 4 yo boy come off the beach with his dad walking 6 feet behind him and the dad stood there while the kid walked all around this guy's bike rubbing it all over, fenders, gas tank, saddle bags, chrome parts. Problem was this kid was covered from head to toe with sand. I'd like to see what you would have to say to the parent standing there while his kid was creating a nightmare for the bike owner. How the bike owner ever kept from stomping the guy is beyond me. Before you say I should not have stood there and watched, I didn't but before I or the bike owner could get there, the damage was done.

The "what's" and "why's" can be dissected all day long, but from the smiles in your pic, you did it right...sweet pic.
