Lately my husband and I have been pondering the idea of getting a trike. If we do, it would be either the new trike that Harley has just come out with or a converted touring HD with all the bells and whistles. Anybody have experience with them?
No experience, but never have been a fan of the trike unless you are gettin way up there in age and worried about balance. Seems like it takes riding out of riding. If you need all those bells and whistles you might as well buy a car - now that is just my opinion and I'm sure there are plenty that have an opposite opinion they are fully entitled to. Being a little uncomfortable is part of what separates those on bikes from those in cars.
seen a 70 year old guy on a goldwing with a add on trike kit, he said its like training wheels for a motorcyce. still had the main drive tire but 2 stationary tires for ballance

I didn't want to get into the reasons why we are considering a trike....but there are reasons. Just wanting to know about anyone's experience. Thanks.
There are about 5 or 6 people I ride with that ride trikes. They all seem to like them and have plenty of fun riding. I rode the Dragon with 3 trikes and they did very well.
I've considered a trike myself for the simple reason that they are bigger and easier for the cagers to see. To many close calls on two wheels this year.
I was looking at motor trike kits. I think there built in Texas.
You might try the trike section on this forum for more info.
Rhonda, From what I have seen of the new HD trike, it sure looks like it is done up right. The absolute best thing I see is that the whole thing is, and will be serviced and warranted by HD. All parts will be readily available thru any HD dealer.
If you go with a Lehman, Voyager, or any of the many conversion trikes, there is always a question of who is responsible for what.
The Triglide takes all the guesswork out of that.
Just my thoughts on it.

Hi Rhonda My wife and I each own a trike. I also ride an Ultra, the trikes came about because we live on a gravel road so it is 11 miles to asphalt. Lori used to ride a Sportster which we purchased a Frankenstein axle for and converted it to a trike. She now can ride with out the fear of dumping it on this nasty road we live on. We had puchased a trike to see if that was the way we wanted to go for her and have kept the other trike because I enjoy riding it once in a while. They take some getting used to however they are fun and very safe. I think the new Harley Tri Glide would be a great option. If you want to ride a Trike get after it! We get bikers looking at the trikes all the time I think if the truth were known several bikers should be riding trikes for their safety.
I'm not saying this to start a flame war, but if you are considering getting a trike with the extra weight from the rear axle and such, I'd consider getting a Goldwing trike or if you have insane cash to blow get a Boss Hoss Trike which pretty much have as much storage as a compact car trunk.
Either way, my 2009 tourer is good on power for me and the wife going 2 up..but I'd question it throwing a trike conversion kit on top of that. I'd read to see if HD added some power to their trike line.
