i have a friend who rode harleys back in the 50's (he is the honda dealer now) talk about wearing the foot boards to razor sharp edge scraping them on the road. i think the old ridged frames sat lower to the ground than the bikes of today, still gives me shivers thinking about being over that far intentionally.
