Default RE: New Rider question

I ride an 05 1200 C and have it equipped like a baby road king. I would suggest you do nothing at first except enjoy your ride. It's a great bike.

After you've had it awhile your personal wants will dictate what you buy. For example, alot of folks say "get a new seat". Myself and a few others like the factory seat so until you've ridden it for a while you won't know if you will need one or not. Another example: I'm an old fart so I wouldn't consider a bike without a windshield and saddle bags. However, there's a group out there that enjoy their bikes as much as I do mine that wouldn't be caught dead with either on their bikes. You'll find a bunch that goes with the theory "loud pipes saves lives". There's the reverse side of the coin that thinks it's disrespectful and harmful to the motorcycle image to impose the sound of loud pipes on others.

That's part of the beauty of the Sportster. You can make it into whatever you want. It's your bike. Fix it the way you want it and enjoy it.
