Default Support Local Stealers?

Gentlemen\Ladies....

What is the general attitude on supporting your local dealer\stealer? I know that alot of folks work on their own bike because of the cost... but when purchasing accessories\parts\swag ... Do you generally adopt the attitude of supporting local or do you hop online\ebay to find it cheapest? In my other hobbies I try my best to support my local suppliers so they can stay open but how does it work for H-D?

I frequently buy stuff at the Piqua and Dayton HD's. As far as the one here in Springfield though......um......no I don't buy there. Been told too many messed up things about them.

When I can do the work myself I will obviously. As for buying parts and what not its 50/50 dealer/online. Some cases I'll have something made here at work.

I support my dealer/dealers (2 I use) for service I can't or don't want to handle. As far as parts, if they're are within 5-10% I buy from them. One has an loyalty rewards program. You pay list & accumulate points, 1 point per dollar spent. At 2500 the give you a 250.00 credit. At 5000 it's 750.00. When I bought the 09 they started me out with 500 points. I'm up to 2200 looking for a free engine guard soon.

Very often I try to support the local dealer. Mine gives HOG members a 15% discount and there's no shipping. (That's the only reason I joined.) On some items like tires I order from the cheapest internet source since I can usually find Dunlap Elite III's for around a hundred bucks for my RG.

Default supporting stealer

I can save a bunch by buying on line from an authorized Harley dealer out of my area. I will not support my local stealer. I am sure he shops around when he buys. every dollar you save is another dollar towards your next mod

You can belive what you heard about them brother........I found out the hard way! I buy my parts thru Chicago H-D.....20% off everyday and no sales tax. Been buying from them for years and have been very pleased as they actually seem like they want your business!

If it's work I don't want to do myself (ie: other than oil changes and mounting accessories), I'll have my dealer do it. As far as buying stuff, I usually use Zanottis or any dealer in the States as they are all a lot cheaper than Canadian dealer prices.

I have all my service done at my local dealer (Harley Davidson of West Virginia) and buy most of my other "gotta haves" through them as well. Yep, I know I could get the stuff cheaper elsewhere but as long as they treat me like they do, I'll keep coming back.
