Good thing they didnt find your keys when they were going thru the house.Get a small safe or key lock box.Nothing is worse then discovering a theif drove your stuff away in your vehicle because the keys were in the kitchen drawer. If im not home my home security system is on,if im home Mr.S&W isnt too far away. The theif that broke in a couple of years ago and set of the alarm got the hell out of the house fast, that siren sure is loud.Figured that paid for the alarm and years of monitoring.
That is awesome to hear Laz, especially that the neighbors were on the ball and paying attention. Reading this, I'm going to start locking my bike down at home too, including the forks. Glad this story has a satisfying ending.
Wow Laz, your takin it pretty good. I don't know what I would do if I came home and my "stuff"was gone. That happened to my Dad years ago, and they caught the guys too.
He, my Dad, went to court everytime the crooks were to appear. Being in the court room kinda made the DA do their job, if you know what I mean. Instead of a slap on the wrist, they got punished.
I do have an alarm on my house. It wasn't centrally monitored but now it is. Even so, the point of having an alarm is for the police to come and catch the criminals. In this case, that's just what happened, only they got them about a mile from my house. All five intruders are in jail and I've got most of my stuff back. Most important of all, none of my family members, to include my dog, were hurt. I don't think it could haveworkedout anyhappier than that.
AMEN to that !!
Always like to read about the Good Guys Winning one & Bad Guys going to jail !!! WD
Sorry to hear 'bout the break-in, laz...but, glad to hear ya got some good neighbors. Shortly afer I had met my wife, I rode over to see her after work one afternoon. The back door to her house was busted open...her purse was layin just inside the door with its contents layin on the floor...and her car was gone. With her purse layin there, and her car gone, I just knew I was gonna find her layin inside the house somewhere. Turns out, the purse was a spare, and she had not gotten home from work yet...but, it sure scared the hell outta me til I saw her pull into the drive. The scumbags did manage to steal most of her electronics, and a bit of jewelry...never saw any of it again, and I don't think they ever caught the punks. I hate a freakin thief!
Sorry to hear about your B&E laz. Happened to me once a very long time ago. It still haunts me to this day, they took everything and were never caught. Needless to say I have a very low opinion of burglars and home invaders.
Short jail terms are not enough to teach burglars, they only get bolder. Home invasion robberies on the increase but you never hear about them on the news, not in L.A. anyway...
Here is some really effective home defense:
