Thanks all for your ideas. I REALLY like the idea of applying a strip of window tint to the inside of the face shield. I also like the idea of using chromatic film, but I don't know where to buy it locally (and I HATE ordering stuff an having to wait for it).

check your phone book for local window tinting shops .. they'll probly just give you some from the scraps from doing cars / trucks.

I realize that but putting tint on a shield doesn't make any sense. At that point you are making it more or less a permanent tinted shield. ....ah nevermind

heheh yes your absolutely right, then you have a permanently tinted shield.

this stuff would still be my first choice if I had the problem the OP does.

PEP Boys $1.50 and probly be able to make two usable strips

stuff sticks like static cling... you can take it off roll it up and pocket it.

I was just looking at full face helments for the winter and found a company that has a flip down shield built into the helmet. Kinda cool if that is what you are looking for. It actual has a slide you push on top of the helmet to flip down the tinted shield on the inside. It only comes about halfway down the outer clear shield. I will try to find a link to it and post it later.
