just get a tinted shield. I wear shoei helmets and they only take 4 or 5 seconds to swap out. I carry a clear and tinted with me all the time. I just swap them out as needed.....not a big deal at all.

Ok all you geniuses... I went to a local place at lunch today and picked up a Fulmer smoke shield. I put it on my helmet for the ride back to work. But it isn't very dark. I rode without my sunglasses, and I still had strained eyes during the ride. So now ($23 later) I'm wondering if I should still go the route of the $1.50 tint from Pep Boys for the upper-most part of the shield only. And if so, which sheild, clear or smoke?
Also, how are the smoke shields for riding at night? Do they significantly cut down your night vision?
