Hi All. I have to go get a wireless router for the house tonight. Any suggestions on what to look for and what to stay away from? We will have three computers hooked up to it.
I'm having good luck with my D-Link DIR-625. I'd definitely make sure it was 'N' band capable, because it should be faster, and yet still backwards compatible with the older 802.11G standard. Make sure your wireless cards have the same capability as your router. If they can only do the 802.11G, then you'd be wasting your money on an 'N' capable router.
You might find a really good buy on a G standard right now. Since G is far faster than cable or dsl or satellite internet, you won't notice a difference from N unless you are passing data between computers on your network. If you have a wireless printer, or set one up, you still won't notice much difference.
Be sure to read the manual and set up a password and encryption to keep others out of your network. Even if they can't access your data, they can slow down your network by sharing your bandwidth.

THanks! And Happy Thanksgiving to all!
i've been using Linksys wired and wireless for years, never had a problem.
I currently use the Wireless G broadband router. I can plug in computers that are close to it, or use it wireless.
