I'm just glad that age 62 I can still ride. Tho I ride with a guy who is 74 and rides an EGU and still handles his bike very well. I guess age is a relative thing.
Ridin keeps you young and alert.Course it helps to know where you are when you get there, embarrasing to ask someone. What town?,what state?,ok now I remember how to get home.
30+ years to become a seasoned rider? Maybe for the mentally and physically challenged.
And how many post do you read that start off with "I dropped my bike" or what is counter steering or I don't use my front brake should I or any of the other dangerous ROOKIE mistakes.
You don't learn everything you need to know in the first couple of years of riding. I know I'll get flamed for this but your natural reaction instincts take more than a few years.
Do I speak from experience yes, do I speak from training experience yes, I used to be a state safety instructor. You never stop learning or honing your motorcycle skills.
How you been Ken?
Mark.
I don't disagree with anything you're saying. Of course we all continue to learn and hopefully become better riders as time passes. It would seem to me to depend more on miles ridden and time in the saddle. I'd think someone that does 15K-20K miles a year would become more learned more quickly than someone that puts in 1K-2K per year. Riding for this kind of rider may never become second nature. With all due respect your comment struck me as a "you don't know squat until you've been riding as long as I have". No biggie really. I just like stirring the pot sometimes.
WOW must be winter fever this Dipping Dots post just went to look how experienced I am.
BTW if you been rideing out side of HD then subtract those years from you "Old School" riding status LOL!
FYI it only takes one mistake to wipe out those years of experience.
Point is your never to Old to learn or F'up. Just be careful out there and have fun too.
