does cold affect helmets?

Wind chill does not make anything colder than the actual temperature. A lump of steed in 10 * environment will be 10 *, no matter what the wind speed is. Humans and other animals are affected by wind chill because cold combined with wind will cause the body to loose heat more quickly and decrease the time it takes to get frostbite or hypothermia.

temp will have no affect on your helmet, but a used depeneds will keep mice and most anything else away

Although, it's technically not wind chill that's cooling, it's actually heat loss by convection.
Yea, but technically all wind chill is is a name given to the effect of heat being removed by wind (like convection) and identifying the temperature that would have the same effect on skin had there been no wind.

I think the only issue is that the helmet is going to be cold when you put it on your head.
