In my younger days I wore a German helmet and thought nothing of it. Then as time went by friends and others let their feelings be known.
My Jewish friends and former vets were honest about their ill feelings and bad memories towards seeing the helmet.
It was nothing I had even remotely thought about up to then.
So out of deference to how the helmet was viewed I no longer wore it.
The same holds true, for me, about displaying the confederate flag.
Another poster stated, who cares what others think. And I wholeheartedly agree for the most part.
However I see no reason to disregard the hurt that such an image of the helmet or rebel flag holds for so many.
This is just my feeling and I certainly hold no ill will to anyone that displays/wears either...

I figure there are very few that really are hurt by the german helmet. Those few are probably way beyond being tramatized by a stinkin hemet. As for the confederate flag.
Get over it. That flag is as much a part of american history and heritage as old glory and we have moved on as a country. I can't say i have ever seen anyone run off and hide in the woods because either flag is flown....

And that is exactly what I did...

The German helmet and shape as most know it looks a lot like the one worn by the American army does it not?I even think the shape has been adopted by S.W.AT. and even other European land forces ,maybe a good idea to go to your army surplus store and buy one of them?

You are absolutely correct. However the difference is they EARNED them. Billy Bad-*** wannabe probably has not earned or accomplished anything. Let alone the honor of bringing home a trophy of their accomplishments and surviving what was probably a literal living hell. I'm not a veteran but I have a tremendous amount of respect for our American Veterans and in my opinion wearing parts of the enemy uniform is a big slap in the face.

Like I said, it is only my opinion and nothing personal against the OP but it might be something to think about. If you don't care, wear what you want. Because our Veterans and current military personnel made it that way for you.

Have you looked at the Bell Drifter helmet. But try it on, it's shape did not fit my head correctly.

I was hoping that someone else besides me felt that way. Maybe I'm over sensitive because I'm Jewish but I always thought wearing a German helmet was bad taste. When I was a cop in the ghetto areas of Brooklyn I used to get a kick out of all the minority kids wearing German helmets on crotch rockets.
I do occasionally wear a small novelty salad-bowl type helmet but they don't have the German helmet shape.

That's a souvenir they picked up off the battlefield. I doubt they brought it home to wear while riding a motorcycle. My father brought home a Japanese flag found on the battlefield in WWII. He never wore it though.
