might sound silly to someone who's never owned or ridin a bike before. Good luck with the course and just remember its alot funner with the shiny side up...
I just signed up for the Team Oregon Basic Rider Training course. I have a brand new Softail Heritage sitting in the garage longing for a break in run. As a first time bike owner, March 13 is the beginning of a new phase of life for me! I know it may seem silly to you that have ridden for years, but I am so excited I can't wait!!!
Congratulations on the new bike and for taking the course.
I had ridden for more years then I care to recount, when I decided to make myself legal, , take the course and get my endorsement. I learned a lot and found out what I was doing wrong. Hardest part is breaking old habits, but I think I am now a better and safer rider...
Ride Like A Pro video is also very helpful and gives you benchmarks to practice against...
Congrats!!! You are making a smart decision by taking the course fist, it will make you more confident when you get on your own machine. Its not silly at all to be excited, I was in your postion not so long ago and I too was very excited. Now, 5 HDs later and the smile still comes to my face every time I start her up.
Not crazy at all. My buddy and I were just checking insuracne rates. Finally found a decent company with decent rates.
Basically we are identical financially, neither of us have tickets or accidents. The only difference is our age, he is 5 or 6 years younger, we have the same model bike and his quote was $26 a year less than mine. The reason, he took a motorcycle safety course 6 year ago. He's only been riding for 6 years. I've had a motorcycle license since I was 16 but have never taken a course.
The insuracne companies don't care about experience, but if you have that certificate... and no or very little experience, they will give you a break. Crazy!
Congratulations!! I couldn't wait to take the class, because like you, I had a brand new HD sitting in the garage. I had never ridden before, and the class gave me so much confidence. But SILLY to be excited!! Not at all. I get excited every time I THINK about getting on my bike.
