I've never seen nor heard of any Harley riders hassled by cops in our area. They all seem pretty cool about it when we're out riding. Dave was pulled over in Sturgis one year, but they gave him his ticket and let him roll out with no hassle.
I personally have a theory about who cops "hassle" and it has nothing to do with what an individual is riding or driving but more to do with the attitude of the individual.
I think the chief of police in our town just picked up a brand new HD. A couple others on the force ride HD and another a metric. No problems here, I just get a smile and a head nod when I go by.

Got stopped the other day by a city boy in a mall parking lot. I was easing through looking for a particular store and I seen him sitting there in a vacant corner. As I looped around heading back his way he pulled up and flashed his headlights at me. I stopped and he walked up and asked if I was lost. I explained and he advised that it was in the next block up.
What he really wanted was to check out the bike because he was interested in getting a Heritage. He had an older RK and we talked bikes for about a half hour...
Or for Squids that have deep pockets to pay all the fines.
We have zero problems with cops around here because there are no cops around here. Actually I saw one about a year ago but that doesn't count as he works in another county and drives his black and white home.
