HMM.. I'd pull over ASAP and dial 911. I would not stop in the middle of the road. I would go back and try to slow cars down and stop them, tho, if someone was helping the downed rider. With the groups I ride with, I think we would all figure out the right thing for all of us to do pretty quickly. I don't think having a bike sitting in the middle of the road would help too much. I'd more likely see a person waving arms than a bike, flashers or not. (JMO). Kudos to those who said DO NOT REMOVE THE RIDER'S HELMET. That is absolutely correct, even if it seems like a relatively minor accident. You can do much more harm removing the helmet than you will letting it on. The only case where this would be questionable would be if the rider was bleeding from the mouth and choking on the blood. I really don't know what I would do then. Because if you move their head or remove the helmet, you might paralyze them, but if you don't they might choke to death. I hope that situation never presents itself to me or anyone here, and I hope that none of us are the rider down either. Good samaritan laws apply to all these opinions, but they are different in every state. Especially if you have some sort of EMT training. In some states, you can be sued for NOT helping, or doing the wrong thing. In other states, you are completely protected, because you tried to render aid, as best you could.
