I am never ever ever going to own a vivid black bike again....It scratches so easy and shows everything. You look at the damn thing and its scuffs. I dont remember my black truck showing that bad.......never again I tell u....
Me too! My Ultra was black. A real looker but also a problem to keep it that was. In fact all the dark solid colors are that way.
I'm happy now with my bright silver pearl Heritage.. Solid color and have not seen the need to wash it yet! Been riding it since July and only had to do some spot cleaning!
Will never go back to black as a main color on a Harley
My Road King was vivid black.....one thing I found that works well is the Eagle one nanowax spray. I would wipe the bike down with a good detail spray then with a CLEAN microfiber, spray and wipe the nanowax. It doesn't require buffing its just a spray and wipe. It did well with hiding the swirl marks and fine scratches. That is one of the big reasons I got the Crossbones in black denim........
My sporty was vivid black, liked the color a lot but wiped it down almost every time I rode, I was surprised with the flat black, I washed it last weekend and it was the first time I had touched it in two months. Try the flat on the next bike if you like the look.
I used to be the same way untill I was at an auto parts store this past summer and found a product called BLACK BOX by TURTLE WAX. That stuff works amazing. I have an 08 night train in vivid black and it looks like its fresh off the showroom floor. Its a three step process: a prewax paint cleaner, a black pigment filled wax, and then a finishing black pigmented detailer spray. The black pigment in the wax makes a huge difference and takes car of alot of small scratches. The best thing to do is also make sure you use ALOT of soap when washing your bike and wash more often than you would any other color because you dont want to be washing alot of road crap off all at once, thats where the fine scratches come from.
